On a normal site, a 5 GB video means 5 GB uploaded, a wait in somebody's queue, and 480 MB downloaded again. Here it means 0 bytes up and 0 bytes down. How to use Mute a Video
- 1. Upload the video and review the analysis. Drop or browse for the MP4 or MOV file you want to silence. Videos up to 5 GB work: the file is read in small chunks rather than loaded whole, and it never leaves your device. The tool instantly analyzes the video and shows its duration, resolution, codec and the audio track it is about to remove.
- 2. Remove all of the sound, or part of it. The audio is removed as soon as the video is ready, with no button to press: the picture is copied bit-for-bit while every audio stream is dropped, so even long recordings finish in seconds. To silence just a stretch, tick Mute only part of the video, play to the start and tap Start here, play to the end and tap End here (or type the seconds), then press Remove audio.
- 3. Preview and download the muted video. Play the result on the page to confirm the sound is gone, then download the new file. It is saved next to the original name with a -muted suffix, and it is usually slightly smaller because the audio bytes are gone.
